The Lello & Irmão bookshop is, since 2013, officially a cultural heritage in Porto, Portugal.

J.K. Rowling wrote part of the Harry Potter stories here in Porto, and got inspired in the Lello bookshop to create the staircases we know from Harry Potter’s Hogwarts school.

Tomorrow – 13th January – the bookshop is celebrating its 110th anniversary, and to celebrate, the entrance will be free (usually it’s 3€, deductible if you buy any books). There will also be a give away of 100 copies of “A Lágrima”, from Guerra Junqueiro, as well as poetry readings and other cultural activities. One of the special guests attending this anniversary is the Portuguese Minister of Culture, João Soares.

If you are in Porto, this is the perfect to go and see the beautiful Lello and appreciate some literature.

Here are some photos I took today at Lello’s, anticipating for tomorrow’s big event.
